Mt. Shasta Ceremonies and Retreat
Chris, David, Rick, Wake, Barry, Allen, the Great Inka Sun Staff and twenty 10 inch and 5 inch progeny Staffs spent four glorious days on Apu Shasta in Northern California August 20-23. Celebrated as a most sacred mountain by modern western mystics, meditators and psychics and a prominent ceremonial pilgrimage destination for many North American indigenous shaman, we felt the Inka Sun Staff (ISS) and the mountain would love to get to know each other. They clearly did!
After camping two nights as Panther Meadow, we hike four miles or so round trip to a remote spring and meadow above the 9,000 foot level. The sun has not been out all day as we begin opening sacred space in preparation for taking the Great Staff out of its backpack. In an affirmation of the Presence of Inti Tai Tai, Father Sun, the clouds immediately break and we introduce ISS and the Apu by placing the Staff in the creek just under a spectacular little waterfall. Everyone takes out their progeny Staffs and places them in the pool as well. Nearly 20 in all. In addition to introducing the great Beings, our intentions include cleansing the Staffs of the 4th Sun, the old ways, and enhancing their receptivity for the 5th Sun, the Time to Come, the new consciousness. Of course we also want the Staffs to enjoy a cold, refreshing bath under the powerful eye of the Great Mountain.
Moving to our alter under a mountain-shaped, automobile-sized stone, we sit down in our outdoor Cathedral for a Despacho Ceremony with the Great Staff planted at our center, surrounded and touched by our mesas and all the progeny Staffs. And the Sun disappeared for the remainder of the day! Wake officiates, we all participate.
Asked to share our intentions for the Despacho, Barry offered "I call the great Apu Shasta" and an immediate, sustained squall reminded us that this is the Wild-er-ness and that the Sacred Mountain Being is with us. It rains through out our Ceremony, dampening and chilling our bodies while the connection with our Inka lineage through the Despacho warms and lifts our spirits. We lovingly and carefully put our Prayers for the Earth and all her inhabitants in the ceremonial mandala along with our offering to the Great Apu who storms His presence amongst us.
II. NETWORKING
Peace Pole Project
̉May Peace Prevail on EarthÓ
SYNCHRONICITY, Òthe coincidence of events that seem related but are not obviously caused one by the otherÓ (Encarta online dictionary) or "meaningful coincidence" (Carl Jung) is one of the qualities and experiences of a healing, holistic state of consciousness. Some say it is a sign that a group is on the right track, walking its destiny path.
Two seemingly unconnected events occur on Mt. Shasta, August 21, 2004.
1. An ISS group is camping and offering ritual on the Mountain, planting Staffs into the Earth to ground and radiate a new epoch of human history highlighted by a "a new kind of human being," a new consciousness, called the 5th Sun by the Inka. (See http://inkasunstaff.org/Dedication.html for more details of the new epoch.)
2. A contingent of Japanese meditators journey from their home country to initiate and dedicate the first Mt. Shasta "Peace Pole" that boldly declares "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in four languages on its sides. This 5 foot wooden "staff" is planted in the Earth to "ground the energies of the next dimension of consciousness," Fumi Johns, a worldwide spokesperson for the group announces to the gathering of Mt. Shasta City residents and six visiting shaman in training.
Come along on a journey between 2004 and 1986, on the western coast of the northern continent know as the Americas, third rock from the sun. It is another point of time and space within the Eternal Now of synchronicity and confluence of past/present/future of the emerging scientific and energetic realities of Quantum Physics . {please, please see the incredible movie "What the Bleep Do We Know" for a remarkable leading edge scientific confirmation of shamanic cosmology, theory, and practice. It will change how you view and deal with your body, each atom within it, and the Universes of Manifested Spirit in which you, your body, your atoms, and all our relations live}
Allen participates in a large World Prayer Ceremony in Los Angeles with Fumi Johns and three other Japanese members of the World Peace Prayer Society. They carry flags of all countries, slowly and reverently, one at a time, to the center of a stage as hundreds in the audience chant a prayer for the peaceful manifestation of the destiny of that country. They always end with the prayerful invocation, "May Peace Prevail on Earth." (see http://www.worldpeace.org/ )
The six Friends of ISS, made aware of the Peace Pole ceremony and the synchronous ceremonial opportunity by a flyer on a grocery store door, came off the mountain to offer the energy of the Inka Sun Staff and the Inka Medicine Lineage to the dedication. We hold our progeny staffs and participate wholeheartedly in the mudras and other ritual activities.
Allen re-introduces himself to Fumi and the others. As Allen, Fumi, Jericho, and Kazuyuki smile and hug and reminisce, Barry, Wake and other ISS Friends are also greeting as fellow workers in the light, and Fumi invites the ISS group to plant a 10 inch Staff next to the Peace Pole. Fumi and Jericho plant ISS with Allen, Barry and the others supporting.
Fumi announces, Barry and Allen affirm, that "from now on the grids of the Peace Poles and the Inka Sun Staffs are linked as one. Ceremony by either group streams the energy of the incoming consciousness through all the Poles/Staffs of the sister movements!" The energetic transformational work of the meditation-based Japanese ÒPeace Pole ProjectÓ and the Los Angeles/Peruvian Andes based Inka Sun Staff Community are linked in spirit, intention, purpose and destiny.
Fumi notes the seven rings on the 5 inch Staff that Barry and Allen gift her, gazes knowingly at the Staff and then Staff caretakers, and invites them and the Great Staff to come to their once in a millennium planetary ceremony on Mt. Fuji on July 7, 2007, or 07/07/07, or seven/seven/seven. "Of course. We will join you there."

The original networking link for the Inka Sun Staff and its Community is The Four Winds Society. The modern Inka Sun Staff was birthed by Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D. and The Four Winds (see http://inkasunstaff.org/Modern.html ) The Great Staff, and therefore all Staffs and all Friends of the Staff, are joining the "Prayers for the Earth" tour of western Europe and eastern USA. Allen will travel with the Great ISS across the Atlantic and possibly Barry and /or Allen to Connecticut.

As well as large group ceremonies in the various countries scheduled for 7 PM their local time in auditoriums, the Inka Sun Staff, either Allen or Barry, and a small group will venture into nature, sometimes at indigenous peoples sacred sites, for intimate ISS ritual. For instance, join us in Ireland at Loughcrew, Knowth, and Tara (see http://www.knowth.com/loughcrew.htm ) on September 6th and/or 7th and at the lesser known St. Colman's Well (see http://www.burrenbeo.com/Holywellst.html ) and other sites in the sparsely populated west, on September 3rd and/or 4th.
Please consider printing out the brochure and following the dates of the tour, joining the ISS ceremonies in each country. The Oslo ceremony is cancelled. We will spend an extra day in England, going to crop circles perhaps? The Staff, its caretakers, you and all Friends of ISS, and the Pacha Mama would greatly appreciate and benefit from your energies, thoughts, prayers and non-local presence.

UNDETERMINED SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LOCATION
Barry and/or Allen and any Friends of ISS in Southern California for the day will come together to celebrate the Fall Equinox, one of our four primary "Sun and Earth Days" (What is Sun and Earth Days? see http://inkasunstaff.org/WorldPrayerDay.htm ).
This marks a new era for the ISS Community. The Great Staff will increasingly be in ceremony around the planet for ISS gatherings and to join our networking partners in their ceremonies. For the first time, the Great Inka Sun Staff may not be literally present for our Southern California ceremonial gathering. We will be celebrating our Despacho on September 25th with 10 inch and 5 inch Staffs (and perhaps the Great Staff), the Great Staff within each of us, and our inner Lightening Rod of the incoming consciousness. At the same time, the Great Staff may be with Barry and/or Allen in Connecticut for 3 days of Ceremony (there will be number of Progeny Staff in Connecticut for sure) and Training with Inka Elders Don Umberto, Dona Bernadina, Don Francisco, and Shaman Porfirio Siqueiros (for info about this "Prayers for the Earth" tour see http://www.thefourwinds.com/NewPrayers72704_Ireland.pdf. It is a unique opportunity to link our group in the City of the Angels with this amazing convocation in which the Inka Sun Staffs will be important participants. It has been said, "Where one Staff is in blessed ceremony, all Staffs are in ceremony. When one Friend of the Staff is "Praying for the Earth," all Friends come together as one voice."
Whether or not you can physically join the Staffs in Connecticut or the Staffs in Southern California, you are an important part of the ISS Autumnal Equinox Ceremony by way of your loving intention and non-local participation. Thank You.
IV. FRIENDS of ISS are Saying
ÒIt made my day when I received my Sun Staff in the mail! I took it with me from Utah to California to the Plumas National Forest. I initiated it among a tribe of wonderful women who appreciated the ceremony and the information that has come with it. I will be taking it with me on all my hikes in the Wasatch Mts. here in Utah. David W. wrote about the Mt. Shasta ISS Men's Retreat in an email to the other participants: ÒSunday, Allen sweetly asked me to share my most memorable experiences of the ISS Men's journey to Mt. Shasta. I told him of my sense of the beauty and power and energy of the Staff, and the glorious sights. That was it! I failed to speak of the love and hope of the Staff and how it represents my hopes for the Universe and all that it encompasses; the landscape, the rock formations, the plants, the squirrels, the ice, the moving water, the clouds, rain and wind and how they spoke to us, reminding us of our insignificance; reminding us of our vulnerability; the space and its vastness, reminding us of the minuteness of the worlds in which we spend most of our waking lives, the worlds in which we are usually preoccupied. I have never been at a finer location to speak to the spirits; the Great Spirit, Jesus Cristo, my Guides and Angels, and the Ancient Ones; a place where my prayers for all were certain to be heard. Thank you all for making the experience possible. I am changed because of it, for the better."
