Don Manuel Quispe, Inka elder: 1906-2004

The golden Inka Sun Staff's lineage was rooted deep within the Earth's past. Ancient lore recalls a time long, long ago when a Golden Tear fell from Father Sun's eye and landed among early Stone People. This fiery, golden teardrop of love initiated a new wave of beauty and vitality here on Mother Earth that we know as plants, animals, and humans. Eons later two Children of the Sun, the first Inkas, were gifted with a Golden Scepter by their heavenly father. They roamed the high Andes with the gleaming walking stick, seeking the perfect location for a new civilization, eventually founding the vast Inka Empire. Their Golden Staff is a symbolic and tangible lightning rod attracting and focusing a loving and inclusive consciousness for all humans and all our relations.

Traditional Elders and Wisdom Keepers around the world portray a momentous, ongoing transition to a new era, known as the 5th Sun by the Inka and 5th World to the Hopi. Inka Elders have prophesized a time of great upheaval and change with the promise of a "golden age" and a "new kind of human." The mission of the Inka Staff Community was to focus, balance, harmonize, and radiate the transformational energies of the 5th Sun—link in spirit and message with countless spiritual and indigenous groups and all peoples of goodwill throughout the world.

This continues in the work of many who are preparing and playing their part in becoming the Pachakuti. Pachakuti is the one who brings an era to a close (pacha means earth or time, kuti means end of or to step outside of). Pachikuti built Machu Picchu and expanded the Inka empire to a territory larger than the United States. His return is seen not as the return of a mythical being but the return of an era of people who live in right relationship with Mother Earth, acting as her stewards rather than exploiting her. It is the end of time, but not the end of humanity. It's the beginning of a new millenium of gold.

The original Inka Sun Staff project has now evolved into the Munay-Ki community, an international community of gifters and receivers of the rites of the Munay-Ki. Please visit www.munay-ki.org to find out more about the rites and how you can both receive and gift the rites in your community.
